Allen (アレン Aren) is a fictional character in the Shaman King 2001 anime series.

Appearance[]

He is a boy of average height. He has a long, brown hair tied in a ponytail. He wears a simple Native American styled outfit.

Personality[]

He is usually very calm and quiet and is very devoted to protecting and cultivating nature. He finds a kindred soul in Horohoro who is also a nature loving individual. However, Allen is much more aggressive and extreme on his beliefs and will resort to violence if necessary, having no qualms about attacking people in bulldozers, believing them to be enemies and thus behaving like an ecoterrorist.

Although he means well and initially tried to dissuade the construction workers from destroying the land through more peaceful means, he soon despaired when such methods didn't work, thus resorting to more physical methods. When defending nature, he loses restraint and even attempted to chase after the workers on their machines when they were fleeing, implying he sought to murder them were not for Horohoro's intervention. In fact, Horohoro was genuinely disturbed by how easily Allen turned to attacking humans to defend nature as a justified means of protection with the former actively trying to stop the latter from escalating his attacks.

As a bulldozer exploded starting a forest fire, Allen lost all composure, desperately trying to extinguish the fire to no avail. When Horohoro suggested that knocking trees could do the deed, Allen refused because it meant harming nature. When Horohoro carried the deed and succeeded he was able to convince Allen to pursue more peaceful means to achieve a more balanced man and nature coexistence. Although he remains fiercely defensive of nature, it is likely he mellowed out on his approach.

Abilities and Powers[]

Spirit[]

See More: Doddo

Allen's guardian ghost is that of a giant grizzly bear named Doddo with his medium being a medal bear on his hand. When over souled, Doddo's body begins to materialize on a higher plane of existence, ultimately materializing his whole body, though in colossal proportion.

History[]

Travel Through America[]

Anime/Manga Difference[]

Allen is a 2001 anime-only character and as such does not appear in the manga series. However, much of his background and context is likely inspired by Bluebell Bloch, a nature loving woman who also had an encounter with Horohoro, while Allen's spirit partner Doddo is similar to Apollo, a wild grizzly bear who was briefly adopted by Bloch's father when she was young.
