Asakura Muntzer Redseb (麻倉・
After the Shaman Fight, the siblings are adopted into the Asakura Family[4] and grow up to become florists.[6] For the Flower of Maize, Redseb and Seyrarm side with Team YVS.[7]
Appearance[]
Redseb as a teenager.
Redseb has short, messy light brown hair and light blue eyes. He dresses very casually; plain t-shirt, jean shorts, wristbands and black running shoes.
After starting school in Funbari Hill, he attends Shinra Academy wearing the school uniform in the same style as Asakura Yoh, by not wearing a tie and unbuttons the shirt revealing his bare upper body.[4]
Personality[]
He is usually shown energetic and very protective of his sister. Once he encountered Chocolove McDonnell during the shaman tournament, Redseb showed a colder side of himself, attacking Mikihisa when he tried to stop him and killed the members of Shaft as well as Chocolove to avenge the murder of his father.[8]
Abilities and Powers[]
After being adopted into the Asakura Family, Redseb is taught the family's techniques by Umemiya Ryunosuke.[4]
Spirit[]
- See More: Golem | Asakura Mikihisa
Redseb and Seyrarm both operate their father's Golem as their Guardian Ghost.
After Mikihisa's death, Redseb uses his adoptive father's spirit as his Guardian Ghost, with Mikihisa's bird mask as a shaman medium.[4]
Ahead of the Flower of Maize, Redseb is given the pyramid-shaped robot Densuke (デンスケ Densuke), which is dark colored and has an angry expression.[9]
History[]
Past[]
Redseb was born on August 15, 1992 in the Middle East. When was young, his family moved to New York, where his sister would be born in 1994.[1] Their parents worked together on building a Golem, until the untimely death of their mother.[10]
On Christmas Eve 1998, their father was jumped by Shaft and killed by Chocolove McDonnell,[11][12] and Seyrarm found his body, the shock of which made her catatonic. Redseb and Seyrarm were then placed in an orphanage.[13]
Coming to Tokyo[]
After learning about shamans, ghosts, and the Shaman Fight from his father's Golem, Redseb decided to enter the tournament so he could fix his sister and locate his father's murderer.[13] Redseb and Seyrarm later witnessed the passing of Ragoh, signaling the beginning of the Shaman Fight.[14]
Shaman Fight in Tokyo[]
Not much is known about their performance during the preliminary round, but Redseb and Seyrarm both won two matches and advanced to the main competition. The siblings and the other qualifying competitors attended the opening ceremony at Mimata Hall.[15]
Traveling through America[]
A month later, Redseb and the other competitors gathered at Yokocha Base and were flown to America in the Patch Jumbo. The shamans were tasked with locating and reaching the Patch Village within three months. While still tens of thousands of feet in the air, the jumbo jet was revealed to be an Over Soul shortly before it was dematerialized, dropping all of its passengers. The Golem shifted into its Sky Mode, and Redseb and Seyrarm rode it safely down to the ground.[16]
Redseb and Seyrarm successfully reached the Patch Village and formed Team "Kabbalahers" with Asakura Mikihisa.[5]
Shaman Fights Second Round[]
Months later, the competing shamans were transported to the island Tokyo.[17]
Before Team "Kabbalahers" first match, Mikihisa left to train Tao Ren, so Redseb and Seyrarm sat near the stadium and waited for his return.[5] Team "Hana-Gumi" attempted to attack the children, but Tao Jun, Tamamura Tamao, and Kyōyama Anna came to their defense.[18] Redseb watched in amazement at Ashcroft's and Lee Pyron's abilities.[19] Redseb was then shocked to learn that Anna was the fiancée of Asakura Yoh, Mikihisa's son, and that Tamao was Mikihisa's apprentice. Anna insisted that Redseb and Seyrarm get to the match, and Tamao engaged in the fight so Anna could escort the children.[20]
While carrying Seyrarm on his back, Redseb explained to Anna about their past and his reasons for entering the Shaman Fight. Anna was shocked that they had a real Golem, and Redseb boasted about his father's genius. When Anna questioned where the Golem was, Redseb realized that he had accidentally forgotten it behind, so Anna summoned Zenki and Goki to carry them all back and retrieve it. However, Seyrarm recited the voice command, calling it to their location. Redseb admitted that he could have done the same and then complimented Anna for the concern she had shown them, comparing her to a mother. Redseb and Seyrarm then rode the Golem to the stadium.[21] Mikihisa eventually joined them at the stadium and defeated Team "Mariachi".[22]
One night, Redseb and Mikihisa sat by the grill as the barbeque cooked. Redseb mentioned that Mikihisa was almost like a father to him, but before Mikihisa could respond, Redseb called over his sister, who was staring at the awakened Golem.[23] With its Spirit Search ability, the Golem had identified the members of Shaft, Camel's murders, on the island, so Redseb and Seyrarm took the Golem to exact revenge for their father. Mikihisa tried to stop them but was defeated. After the Golem killed the other former gang members, Chocolove confronted the children and fought the Golem. Although Chocolove managed to cut apart the Golem, it remained functioning and shot him with a laser beam, killing him.[24]
Yoh confronted the children, while Umemiya Ryunosuke carried away Chocolove's and Shaft's bodies. Redseb wanted to kill Yoh, too, since he was helping a murderer. He also blamed Yoh for their vengeance not restoring Seyrarm's emotions. To demonstrate the cycle of revenge, Yoh drew out the O.S. "Spirit of Sword" and offered to kill them for Chocolove. The Golem unleashed a barrage of furyoku blasts, but when Yoh evaded them, the Golem flew up into the air and unleashed another barrage from above. Yoh then used his Over Soul to propel him up onto the Golem and beheaded it before it could fire its eyebeam. Redseb panicked and, when Yoh threatened to crash the Golem, charged at Yoh to protect Seyrarm. Yoh knocked the boy aside but used an Over Soul to catch Redseb, saving the boy from plummeting to the ground. Yoh lectured Redseb about the cycle of revenge, which swayed the boy. However, a second head emerged from the Golem and shot Yoh. The Golem then shifted itself upright, dropping Redseb and Yoh from its back; Redseb was shocked that it was acting without commands from him or Seyrarm. After using an Over Soul to bring them safely to the ground, Yoh suggested that they run and promised to save Seyrarm, who was still in the Golem.[25]
While Yoh focused on healing his injury, Redseb contemplated the situation. The Golem eventually tracked down their location; however, Asakura Hao caught the Golem and confronted his brother. Yoh told Redseb to run, but Hao's followers also arrived, stopping the boy. Luchist Lasso revealed that Camel was possessing Seyrarm and operating the Golem, much to Redseb's shock. Lyserg Diethel prevented the Spirit of Fire from consuming the Golem. Redseb was crestfallen when his father was preoccupied with how to fight Hao. Yoh and his friends stood united to defend the Golem, so Hao and his followers continued on their way.[26]
Shortly after, Redseb worried over Yoh who had collapsed from exhaustion. At the mention of the Shaman King, Camel stirred and the Golem began attacking. Zelel lifted up Lyserg, Redseb, and Yoh, and when Tao Ren and Horohoro failed to defeat the Golem, Zelel flew away with everyone. While the Golem chased after them, Lyserg posited that Camel was not firing at them because Redseb was with them. Redseb took this to mean that his voice could reach his father. When Horohoro criticized the idea and insulted Camel, Redseb punched Horohoro in the groin and declared that he would stop his father. Ren and Lyserg agreed to the idea but devised a backup plan. Once the Archangel stopped, Redseb shouted for his father, but Camel believed it to be a trap and fired an Emeth Blast. In the face of this betrayal, Redseb teared up; however, Chocolove arrived in time to blow the laser aside and confronted Camel. Reseb was shocked to see that Chocolove was alive again.[27]
While Chocolove fought the Golem, Redseb believed that Camel had lived for fighting and that Chocolove was trying to fulfill his father's dream, but Orona corrected him, pointing out that shamans fight for peace and that Camel had originally built the Goelm to defend his family and people. Chocolove and Camel's final clash was interrupted by Anna's Zenki and Goki, much to the shock of everyone. Camel stopped possessing Seyrarm and apologized to both of his children. However, before he could detonate the Golem, Anna stopped him, admonishing him for foisting his children onto others and demanding that he stay to teach her how to operate the Golem. The next morning, Redseb could not find his father's ghost and ran to ask Yoh about it. Horohoro joked about Camel's fate, so Redseb punched him.[28]
Anna brought Golem and the siblings to stop Hao and his followers from killing Tamao and Marco. Anna stayed behind to fight Hao, while the siblings and Manta flew away in the Golem, which carried Marco in its wing, and Tamao escaped in Michael's car form, which carried Lyserg's and Jeanne's bodies.[29] However, Hao's followers received a call over their Oracle Bells, so Luchist stopped chasing them. After reuniting with Yoh, the siblings and Manta left Marco with Sati and then flew Yoh[30] to where Anna was fighting Hao.[31]
While Yoh and Hao had coffee, the siblings, Anna, and Manta returned to the inn. Redseb questioned if it was good idea to bring along the ghosts of Team "Hana-Gumi", to which Anna replied that the Spirit of Fire would have eaten them, making Hao more powerful, and that she could interrogate them about what happened on the beach. When Redseb suggested that she with Yoh and Golem could have defeated Hao, she countered that Hao's "Black Fowl" O.S. was unstoppable.[32]
The next day, the siblings sat with Manta as they watched the match between Teams "Funbari Onsen" and "The Ren".[33] After Ren struck down Yoh with lightning, Redseb believed that was the end of Team "Funbari Onsen" but was not worried about Yoh since there were people who could resurrect him. However, Redseb was shocked to see that Yoh had survived the lightning strike.[34] Redseb intently watched the match until it was interrupted by the arrival of Lyserg, Jeanne, and Sati, who announced that Gandhara's remaining teams, as well as Team "Kabbalahers", had withdrawn. Redseb did not know his team had dropped, and Manta guessed that Mikihisa had done it.[35]
That evening, Redseb confronted Mikihisa about the team's withdrawal. Mikihisa initially feigned ignorance so Redseb tried beating him up. Mikihisa then threateningly questioned if Redseb wanted to die, which frightened the boy. Mikihisa explained that he was protecting them from the battles since their father entrusted their safety with him and that the siblings had no reason to fight now that they had found their father's killer and restored Seyrarm's emotions. Mikihisa then ushered them off to bed, though Redseb still felt he and the Goelm could fight Hao.[36]
Invading the Plants[]
The next day, Redseb and Seyrarm snuck out with the Golem and traveled in its Sea Mode to the undersea continent, Mū. There, they identified Hao's location deep within the structure. Redseb asked his sister if she was scared and was surprised when she spoke, with her admitting that she was not scared. She explained that she could talk the whole time but had chosen not to due to scary things she had seen. She then had the Golem switch to Battle Mode and fire an Emeth Blast at Hao. However, Hao counterattacked with the Spirit of Fire, killing Redseb and Seyrarm and dragging the Golem into the King's Sanctuary. Redseb was left confused when Hao suggested that the soul of the siblings' mother had been used to animate the Golem. After Goldva's Over Soul smashed the Golem, Hao had the Spirit of Fire consume Seyrarm's soul, stopping the Golem, and then sent Redseb to deliver a message to Yoh.[37]
Redseb reunited with Yoh in the Highlands Plant and brought the Spirit of Fire with him since Hao no longer needed it. After Redseb recounted how he and Seyrarm had died, the group discussed whether a Shaman King could or should resurrect the dead, but Yoh insisted that Redseb not give up hope.[38]
While the Five Elemental Warriors were fighting Shaman King Hao, the siblings and their father accompanied Anna in the Golem as she traveled through the communes and helped organize the train of souls.[39]
Funbari no Uta[]
After the end of the Shaman Fight, Redseb and Seyrarm, along with the other shamans, were brought back to life by Shaman King Hao. The siblings were adopted by Mikihisa and Keiko and lived at the Asakura Family Estate in Izumo.
For junior high school, they moved into Funbari Onsen and attended Shinra Private Academy. Following Mikihisa's death, Redseb took his adoptive father's spirit as his Guardian Ghost. Umemiya Ryunosuke trained Redseb in Asakura techniques, and the pair traveled together as exorcists.[4]
Flowers[]
Redseb as a florist
By 2014, Redseb and Seyrarm had become florists with their own shop in Funbari Hill.[6] They have a good relationship with Asakura Hana, and Rebseb teaches Hana about flowers.[40] When Alumi Numbirch came to town, the Muntzer siblings allowed her stay with them at Asakura Anna's request. However, they were also keeping an eye her as they were part of Team YVS.[41]
The Muntzer siblings, along with Black Maiden, went to Funbari Onsen in order to retrieve the Golem, which had been kept in the inn's storehouse. When Tao Men discovered that the Iron Maiden in the storehouse was a fake, the Golem attacked Men, but Ryu saved the boy. After introducing Niaes, the siblings stood by while she and Men fought. However, they kept Niaes from killing Men since they wanted to avoid fighting the Hana-Gumi Waitresses. Tamao returned in time to prevent any further fighting and invited Team YVS to have tea.[42]
Although indebted to the family, Redseb wanted Tamao to dissolve Team Hao and withdraw from the tournament because he believed that Fra YVS had already secured victory. When Tamao questioned if Niaes had indeed killed Jeanne, Redseb confirmed it and then criticized the belief that everything would work out somehow. This infuriated Ryu, but Tamao used Dai Tengu to punch Ryu aside, preventing him from attacking Redseb. She then agreed to give Redseb an answer once Hana returned from Hell.[43]
Redseb and Seyrarm attended the meeting of Daremoine in Kyoto Tower and arranged a meeting with Mr. Green. After the siblings introduced themselves, Midori expressed interest in their Golem, and the three together left to discuss a deal. The siblings accompanied Midori to the underground tunnels and witnessed Mohamed Tabarsi assassinate Hana. Midori had Tabarsi stay behind while he and the siblings drove through the tunnel. Redseb questioned if they could trust Tabarsi, but Midori assured him that Tabarsi's Djinn was secured to their side, even if Tabarsi were to betray them, which made Redseb suspect that Midori was personally after Djinn. Midori similarly accounted for the siblings' sympathies for Hana when he tasked them with monitoring the members of Team Hao. After reaching their destination, Midori asked for the siblings' help in finishing his own Golem, the Green Golem.[44]
Mr. Green gives Densuke and Provin to Redseb and Seyrarm.
While Dong Suhon-controlled Dehon fought Team Marcos, the siblings and Midori sat in the restaurant and discussed Daremoine's infighting, as well as Yoh and his mysterious motivation for allying with Team YVS. Midori then presented the siblings with pyramid-shaped robots—Provin and Densuke—that his company had created through funding from Daremoine. He wanted them to use these robots to help research dimensional arts for his golem project. He also told them that together these robots blocked wiretaps, which they would find useful.[45] After explaining Fra YVS' plan to turn Yohsuke into an incarnation of Lucifer, Midori explained his own plan to create a more powerful robot and control Daremoine and requested the siblings' help in bringing about that peace. He then activated Densuke and Provin, who introduced themselves to the siblings.[46]
Afterwards, Redseb and Seyrarm returned to their flower shop in Funbari Hill.[47]
Anime/Manga Difference[]
Compared to the manga and 2021 anime, both Redseb and Seyrarm have only minor cameos with no voice roles in the 2001 anime. In Episode 58, Seyrarm and Redseb are seen briefly, albeit with blonde hair and green eyes, among the crowd in front of Pino Graham as they saw Hao attack Patch HQ from outside. Before that, they were seen only from behind, sitting on the Golem watching the Destiny Star fly by.[48]
The English dub of the 2021 anime pronounces his name as "Ludsev"; however, the official subtitles spell it as "Redseb".
Trivia[]
- Like his father and sister, Redseb's name comes from a brand of cigarettes sold by Japan Tobacco: Mild Seven (マイルドセブン Mairudo Sebun).
- In the character popularity polls, Redseb ranked #22 in the second.
