Asuraten (阿修羅天 Ashuraten),[2] or simply Asura (アシュラ Ashura), is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. He was originally a Guardian Ghost of Sati Saigan and one of her Butsu Zone.[3] As part of Gandhara, he served as the Guardian Ghost of both Mamy and Samy,[2] and later Nakaizumi Yakumo.[4]
About[]
Asura was one of the Butsu Zone that Sati Saigan created while she traveled from Japan to India.[3] He is described as having an evil passion so strong that it difficult to form an Over Soul with him.[5]

阿修羅眼 Ashurāgan, Kodansha: "Asura Eye"): Using the three jewels between its eyes, Yakumo can perceive the surrounding area from three angles, as well as see through walls.[7]
- Asuramen (
阿修羅面 Ashurāmen, Kodansha: "Asura Mask"): Asura Jan has three masks with different emotions that it can switch between: "Rage" (怒り Ikari),[7] "Tears" (泣き Naki),[8] and a third unnamed one.
- Asura Jan Yonpirazan (アシュラージャン四臂羅斬 Ashurā Jan Yonpirazan, Kodansha: "Asura Jan Four-Arm Slash"): While wielding the four swords, Yakumo cross all four arms and then swings them simultaneously, unleashing four flying slashes.[7]
Anime/Manga Difference[]
Like many of the Gandhara members and their spirits, Asura does not appear in the 2001 anime series.
Trivia[]
- Asura, in spirit form, resembles the character Ashura from Hiroyuki Takei's manga Butsu Zone.
