The Corpse Infantry (コープス 歩兵, "Kōpusu Hohei") is composed of nine hundred ninety-nine corpses created from military infantry.

They are the nine hundred ninety-nine members of the Japanese Imperial Infantry that were slaughtered by Tao Ching during World War II and were turned into Jiang Shi.

Ching would later present them as a gift to his grandson, Tao Ren, on his ninth birthday and had him cut them down to test his fighting skills in preparations for the upcoming Shaman Fights. Private Shimamura Jōtarō was amongst nine hundred ninety-nine corpses.
