Changes: Densen Hoshi

Densen Hoshi(田持法師) is a fictional character in the manga series of Shaman King. He is a monk who was responsible for the death of Asaha Douji's mother, Asanoha Douji.

Appearance

Hoshi is a very fat man, who appears to be in his late 60s. He wears traditional robes and his grey hair is verry short cut.

Hoshi is a fraud so he doesn't have shamanic powers

History

Densen Hoshi was supposedly a monk, held in high esteem for his 'ability' to see demons and kill them. People went to him to tell him about a woman called Asanoha Douji who spoke to things others couldn't see and was considered a demon, a fox disguised as a woman. Densen Hoshi and his men burnt her alive in her house but didn't kill her son, Asaha Douji, believing that it wasn't necessary.

Afterwards he was asked to kill him too but Asaha, having formed an Over Soul with Ohachiyo, fought them off and killed Densen Hoshi to avenge his mother.

Anime/Manga Difference

Trivia

Despite his role in the death Asakura Hao's mother, Hao still called his own team Hoshigumi, incorporating Hoshi's name into his group. This may be a sign of his lingering feeling of grief for his mother's death.
