Dong Honhon (
For the Flower of Maize, she is one of Kamogawa Yohsuke's Helpers for Team YVS,[2] until she is removed following Dong Dehon's betrayal.[3]
Appearance[]
Honhon is a slender woman with red eyes, messy black hair, and burn scars all over her face. She wears a black turtleneck and white pants that are cinched at the waist. She also carries a bottle gourd that contains her Guardian Ghost; it is tied with red cord.
Personality[]
Honhon deeply hates the Tao Family and seeks to kill them all.[1][4]
Abilities and Powers[]
Honhon has natural shamanic abilities, unlike her older siblings.[5] She is initially considered the weakest of her siblings[6] since they have Kami-class spirits bound to themselves.[7] Honhon eventually becomes the strongest after her fight with Tao Jun,[2] in which she briefly died and was revived.[8]
Weapons[]
Honhon carries a pistol[9] and a liuyedao, a Chinese saber.[10]
Spirit[]
- See More: Keiten
Her Guardian Ghost is Keiten, a spirit that lives in her bottle gourd. Her Over Soul with him takes the shape of a robot-like armor.[11]
History[]
Past[]
Honhon was born the fifth child of the Dong Family. When Honhon was young, her mother would read the legend of Keiten to her every day. Many years later, when her mother was put into a coma, Honhon underwent Keiten's trials so she could make him her Guardian Ghost and help her siblings take down the Tao Family.[6]
Red Crimson[]
After Enki spots Usui Horokeu in China, he sends a picture to Honhon, who tells him to mark Horokeu. She then heads to a mountain range near the Tao Family estate. There, she watches Enki attack Horokeu, but Lee Pyron interferes and destroys Enki's Jiang Shi. After Tao Jun shoots Enki, her group gets in a helicopter to leave.[1] Honhon refuses to allow them to escape, so she releases Keiten. Jun fires an RPG at Honhon, who defends herself with her Over Soul "Zantsahan". Honhon throws its giant axe and destroys the tail of the helicopter. Hang Zang-Ching has Shion-Shion grab the helicopter and swing it at Honhon, but her Over Soul jumps over it and flies after Jun.[11] Honhon and Keiten engage in battle with Pyron. Withstanding the Jiang Shi's kicks and punches, the Armor Over Soul cuts off Pyron's legs and then blows off his lower body. Despite her extreme exhaustion, Honhon refuses to give up and continues fighting Pyron. However, the rest of the Tao Family arrive and several Jiang Shi tackle Honhon's Over Soul. With so many of the Tao Family nearby, Honhon attempts to take them all out at once and unleashes all of her Furyoku in a giant blast. Her brother, Dong Yonhon, interferes and moves her away from the battlefield, and the blast merely covers their escape. Honhon falls asleep from exhaustion.[4]
When she later wakes in the Dong Family's residence, she immediately begs for Yonhon's forgiveness in not killing the Tao Family. Yonhon instead thanks her for bearing the burden, and then introduces her to Kamogawa Yohsuke and YVS. Although she thanks them for helping her family, she is unnerved by Yohsuke.[12]
When Jun travels to meet with Director Ten, Honhon watches the ensuing fight from a ledge outside. Honhon considers killing the Director once he is captured in order to keep him from talking, but decides to focus on killing Jun.[13] When the three reach the roof of the building, Honhon ambushes them; however, Dong Dehon and Yonhon interrupt.[14] While time is stopped, Honhon strikes Director Ten[15] and, per Yonhon's request, leaves him alive on the roof.[16] Dehon then moves Jun and Pyron to the base of the building, where Dehon and Yonhon were confronting Horokeu, Hang Zang-Ching, Brocken Meyer, and Bill Burton. Honhon is upset with Dehon's interference, but Dong Shahon point out that he organized this ahead of time. After the Four Holy Beasts introduce themselves, Jun expresses sympathy for Honhon, which infuriates Honhon because she thinks Jun is mocking her. Honhon unleashes Keiten and attacks Jun, while calling out the absence of Tao Ren. Although Jun claims Ren could not come, Ren then arrives and brings the fighting to an end.[14] Keiten warns Honhon not to attack Ren, but she admits that she is too scared to move against him. After Dehon and Shahon warn Ren about their plans for the Flower of Maize, Honhon leaves with Dehon. As they walk away, Honhon asks if the Dong Family would free of their suffering if the Tao Family were gone, which he affirms.[15]
While her siblings have a meeting, Honhon sits in the garden and talks with Keiten. She resolves to defeat Jun in order to restore the Dong Family.[16] After waiting at the door for half an hour, Honhon finally enters the room where her mother lies comatose. Yonhon arrives shortly after and invites to join the siblings' meetings, but Honhon refuses. He then pulls out Honhon's old picture book about Keiten, which embarrasses her. After telling Keiten about their mother's situation, Yonhon reveals that he put a tracker on Director Ten. Honhon grabs the phone and rushes off.
Honhon tracks them to a remote villa, and Jun steps out into the field to confront Honhon.[6] As the two fight again, Jun uses a special talisman to unleash her full power into Pyron, which enables him to overpower Honhon's Over Soul and repeatedly knock it into the water.[17] Honhon survives the onslaught and collapses from exhaustion.[18] After Pyron's body disintegrates from using the technique, Honhon prepares to kill Jun. As Jun runs toward Honhon, Jun pulls out a gun, which causes Honhon to hesitate, but Jun instead drops the gun and punches Honhon in the face. The two women start punching each other while airing the grievances of their two families. Unable to compromise, Honhon and Jun both integrate their spirits and continue their hand-to-hand combat.[19] As the fight goes on, their bodies begin to break under the strain, and eventually they both die. The women's spirits meet and briefly talk; however, the voices of their Guardian Ghosts draw them back to the real world. As they return, they agree to fight for a brighter world but disagree on which family will do so.[8]
Director Ten drops Honhon off at the Dong Family Estate, where she is placed in a bed next to her mother's. When Yonhon reveals that he lied about their mother's coma, Honhon jumps up and grabs him by the shirt. However, he assuages her anger by admitting that he did it to make her stronger and that he would let her hit or kill him once she reaches her full potential. She lets go of him and flops back over in the bed.[20]
Flowers[]
Several months later, Honhon has become a Helper for Team YVS and accompanies Kamogawa Yohsuke to Oume Kaizou's mansion. While Yohsuke and Niaes Varge enter the mansion, Honhon waits near the lake for when Hebishima Yumeji tries to escape punishment. Honhon uses her Over Soul to punch the Rapt back into the mansion. She follows after him and is introduced to Alumi Numbirch. After Alumi slaps Yohsuke, they notice that Alumi has taken on the appearance of Asakura Anna.[2] Honhon and Niaes attack Alumi, but she summons Zenki and Goki to hold them off and then orders the ghost soldiers to swarm them. While struggling to handle the ghosts, Honhon wonders if Anna's appearance is a dimensional art, like her siblings'. She then notices Yohsuke pull out a time-stopping card but is unable to warn him against using it.[21] After Yohsuke's confrontation with Anna, he moves Honhon and Niaes outside. After they unfreeze, Yohsuke also confirms to Honhon that it was a dimensional art. Honhon asks if they should report this to her siblings, but Yohsuke suspects that they are already aware, and then uses a card to set Kaizou on a rampage.[22] After the trio stop to buy ointment and candy, they walk along the lake and discuss Asakura Hana.[23]
The next day, the three stand outside a toy store in Kyoto while Thorim retrieves the piece of Fra YVS's power from Asakura Yohkyo.[24] Honhon then drives them to Kyoto Tower for a meeting with the rest of Team YVS. Along the way, Niaes questions how the Knights Templar are in the physical world again, so Honhon explains that it is through Dimensional Shifting due to the Flower of Maize's limitation on resurrection. Honhon keeps referring to Black Maiden as "Black Virgin" and criticizes her attitude around killing Tao Jeanne, which provokes a fight between the two.[25]
Although the fight ends up destroying the car,[26] the three eventually reach Kyoto Tower for the meeting. Honhon and Niaes stand at Yohsuke's sides while he sits in a throne atop a pyramid.[27]
