Funbari Hill (ふんばりが丘 Funbarigaoka) is a fictional town in the Shaman King manga and anime series. It is located in Nishitokyo, Japan.

Notable Locations[]

  • Funbari Hill Station (ふんばりが丘駅 Funbarigaoka-eki): The main train station for Funbari Hill.[1]
  • Cemetery (墓地 Bochi): Oyamada Manta met Asakura Yoh here after trying to take a shortcut through to the train station. After Umemiya Ryunosuke broke Amidamaru's gravestone and beat up Manta, Yoh and Amidamaru fought Ryu and his gang, forcing them out of the cemetery.[1] Yoh also fought Silva here in order to qualify for the Shaman Fight.[2]
  • Funbari Hill Museum (ふんばりが丘郷土資料館 Funbarigaoka Kyōdo Shiryōkan): A museum displaying the local history of Funbari Hill. It was the home of Harusame.[3]
  • Gussy Kenji's Boxing Gym (グッシー健二ボクシングジム Gusshi Kenji Bokushingu Jimu): The abandoned boxing gym of Gussy Kenji. Ryu's gang attempted to make the gym their new hideout but were forced out by Tobinai Tatsushi, Gussy's former student.[4]
  • China Wok (大中華飯店): A multi-story Chinese restaurant. When a fire broke out in the restaurant, Yoh entered the flames in order to save some children trapped on the roof and to break open the water tank, helping extinguish the fire.[5] Afterwards, the restaurant was abandoned, so Ryu's gang attempted to make it their new hideout; however, Tao Ren had bought the place and forced them out.[6]
  • Funbari Hill General Hospital (ふんばりヶ丘総合病院 Funbarigaoka Sōgō Byōin): Yoh was treated here after his fight with Ren.[7] Yoh and Manta were both later hospitalized here after Yoh's fight with Johann Faust VIII.[8]
  • Temptation Theater (テンプテーション座 Tenputēshon-za): A small movie theater that held a film festival for Lee Pyron.[9]
  • Funbari Kannon (ふんばり観音): A giant statue of Guanyin. It also has a souvenir shop, at which Yoh bought a replacement wooden sword for Ryu.[10]
  • Funbari Bowl (ふんばりボウル Funbari Bōru): An abandoned bowling alley and entertainment center built on the haunting ground of Tokageroh.[10]
  • Funbari Onsen: Formerly the Flame Inn (民宿 炎 Minshuku "En"), a haunted inn with a hot spring on the outskirts of the city. Yoh and Anna rented the inn when they moved into town.[10]
  • Scorpion Apartments (さそり荘 Sasori-shō): Silva and Kalim stayed in a one-room place while officiating matches in Tokyo.[11]

Schools[]

  • Shinra Private Academy (私立 森羅学園 Shiritsu Shinra Gakuen): This was the school that Manta, Yoh,[1] and Kyōyama Anna attended.[6] Years later, Hana, Yohane, and Alumi Numbirch were enrolled here.[12]
  • Banshou Private High School (私立万象高等学校 Shiritsu Banshō Kōtō Gakkō): This was the school where Ichihara Ryuji, his gang, and Asakura Luca were enrolled.[13]

Stores[]

  • Heiyu:[3] A large shopping center, including a grocery store.[14] It is based on Seiyu.
  • Sake Zan (酒山): Kanta haunted the billboard over this store.[15]
  • Zion Mall (シオンモール Shion Mōru): A new shopping mall. Asakura Luca, with Team YVS's help, bought out the mall so Ichihara Ryuji could ambush Hana.[13]
  • Flower Shop Muntzer: A flower shop run by the Muntzer siblings, Redseb and Seyrarm. Alumi stayed here while living in Funbari Hill.[16]

Trivia[]

  • Funbari Hill is based on Hibarigaoka, with several locations being recreated (or adapted) into the series.
