Gussy Kenji (グッシー健二 Gusshi Kenji) is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. He is the spirit of a famous boxer.
About[]
Gussy Kenji was a famous and talented boxer. He took in a delinquent student named Tobinai Tatsushi and trained him, but after Gussy died in a car accident and his gym went out of business, Tatsushi reformed back into a delinquent. Asakura Yoh fought Tatsushi by using Gussy's spirit, and after being defeated, Tatsushi became good again.[1]
Gussy was later temporarily summoned by Kyōyama Anna as part of a demonstration of her powers as an itako.[2]
After Asakura Hao became the Shaman King, Gussy boarded the train in the Great Spirit and helped keep Yoh and the others from being pulled into oblivion.[3]
Soul Integration[]
In order to fight Tatsushi, Yoh integrated Gussy's spirit, enabling him to replicate Gussy's boxing style.[1]
- Soul Hook (ソウル・フック Sōru Fukku): His knockout punch, Gussy delivers a strong right hook to the opponent's jaw.[1]
Anime/Manga Differences[]
Although both anime series skipped over Gussy's story with Yoh, Gussy does briefly appear in Episode 3 of the 2021 series, when Anna summons the various spirits that have interacted with Yoh.
Trivia[]
