Hebishima Yumeji (蛇島夢路, Hebishima Yumeji) is a fictional character in the Shaman King The Super Star manga series. He is a Rapt and ally of Team YVS and works as the head of police in Nagano Prefecture.

Appearance

Yumeji's Rapt form

As a Rapt, Yumeji is a tall, reptilian humanoid with green, scaly skin, a prehensile tail, and a long, forked tongue. He has five clawed fingers on both hands and five clawed toes on his feet. Several large spikes run down his spine to his tail, as well as a turtle-like shell on his back.

As a human, he is a tall, slender man with short black hair and a scar on his right cheek.

Powers and Abilities

As a Rapt, Yumeji is incredibly strong and fast, capable of striking through Over Soul protections. He is also extremely resilient, taking a furyoku-based shotgun blast to the face with minimal damage. His legs are strong and capable of extreme bursts of speed, easily outpacing humans, and is fast enough to run across large bodies of water.

Yumeji is capable of using dimensional arts, which allow him to instantly shift between his normal and human forms, as well as to perceive other dimensional layers.

Yumeji is able to see spirits and is quite knowledgeable about the different types of ghosts. However, he does not appear to have a means with which to fight spirits.

History

Past

The Rapt and Yohsuke destroy the Patch Village.

Several Rapt, including Yumeji, assisted Kamogawa Yohsuke and YVS in destroying the Patch Village and massacring the Patch Tribe. They intentionally leave Alumi Numbirch as the sole survivor of the Patch Tribe.

Flowers

Yumeji and Morimura Hitoshi investigate the deaths of Oume Kaizou's three thugs. Yumeji questions Hitoshi if anything else out of the ordinary had happened, which Hitoshi denies. Yumeji then visits Kaizou and learns about Alumi fighting the three thugs. Her apparent judo expertise reminds Yumeji of Morimura Banji, a deceased police officer from the area. Yumeji then draws attention to the model ship now sitting atop Kaizou's safe and questions if Sakurai is connected to the contents of the safe, which irritates Kaizou. Yumeji apologizes and hands something to Kaizou before leaving.

Yumeji records Alumi's fight with Kaizou and later delivers the recording and his report to Yohsuke. Afterward, Yohsuke warns Yumeji not to do anything rash, and Yumeji promises not to but later returns to Kaizou's house. He manages to sneak past the surveillance of Alumi's Silver Arms. He introduces himself to Alumi and then transforms into his natural shape, threatening her to stay away from the safe. When Hitoshi's arrival and confusion distract Alumi, Yumeji punches her in the stomach and then attacks Hitoshi, planning to eat him. After Alumi shoots Yumeji in the head, he rips out Hitoshi's eye and then slings the man into her. He eats the eye to heal his injury and then barges into the house.

The safe's ghosts hold down Yumeji.

When Yumeji wrenches open the safe, he is swarmed by the horde of vengeful ghosts that were inside. They latch onto his body and pin him to the floor. When Alumi sees the other contents of the safe, she deduces that they are the ghosts of soldiers, and Yumeji watches as the ghosts take on the appearances of soldiers. Yumeji is surprised by Alumi's integration of Asakura Anna's spirit, as well as the sudden appearance of Yohsuke and Black Maiden. With so many threats around, Yumeji decides to flee while they are distracted with each other and heads toward the lake, planning to run across before anyone can catch him. However, Yohsuke predicted that Yumeji would run that way, so Dong Honhon was sitting in wait. Her Over Soul punches Yumeji back into the house, crashing against the safe.

As Alumi demonstrates the abilities of the actual Anna, Yumeji realizes that she is using Cloud. Yohsuke freezes time so he can investigate, but Anna can still move and slaps him aside. Yumeji, in his human form, explains that she is using a dimensional art and chastises Yohsuke for not fully reading the YVS Card. Alumi confirms Yumeji's theory and connects it to Yumeji's own transformation. Yumeji picks up YVS and returns it to Yohsuke, apologizing for causing him trouble. The Team YVS members then retreat from the house, with Yumeji going off on his own and taking the file that was in Kaizou's safe.

Yumeji attends the Daremoine gathering at Kyoto Tower, where he has a meeting with Mr. Green. They discuss Asakura Hana's arrival and the resulting commotion, but Mr. Green orders Yumeji to finish handling another task instead. As Yumeji leaves, he is passed by Redseb and Seyrarm Muntzer, who have their own meeting with Mr. Green. Later that night, Yumeji visits Asakura Yohkyo in jail and steals back YVS Meidum, killing Yohkyo in the process. When Asakura Yohane and Luca come to view their father's body, Yumeji reveals that he was the culprit as a warning to them.
