Kanta (かん太 ) is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. He is the spirit of a billboard painter. After dying, he became an earthbound spirit, called "Shiro" (シロ ).[1]
About
Kanta was a billboard painter who accidentally tipped over his ladder, fell onto the street, and was abruptly hit and killed by a truck. Unable to finish the billboard, Kanta could not find peace, and his obsession turned him into an earthbound spirit, haunting his place of death and knocking down his billboard onto unwary passersby who could sense spirits.
A year after his death, Kanta pushed the sign down onto Asakura Yoh and later Oyamada Manta. Amidamaru protected Manta from Kanta, while Yoh found out about the spirit's past. Yoh returned with white paint and allowed Kanta to use his body to finish painting the billboard.[2]
Kanta was later temporarily summoned by Kyōyama Anna as part of a demonstration of her powers as an itako.[3]
After Asakura Hao became the Shaman King, Kanta boarded the trains of souls and helped keep Yoh and the others from being pulled into oblivion.[4]
