Lil Red (リルレッド Riru Reddo) is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. A French witch, she participated in the Shaman Fight as part of Team "Magical Princess". She was killed by Kanna Bismarch during the match against Team "Hana-Gumi".[3]

Lil Red is a short old woman who wears a short red cape with a hood and carries a wolf-headed cane.
Personality[]
Lil Red is overconfident in her abilities, believing that the one thing a witch needs above everything else is experience.[3]
Even though she never married, she never gave up on love and entered the Shaman Fight so that she could regain her youth and find love.[1]
Abilities and Powers[]
Lil Red is a witch and uses her abilities for spying and gathering information. Even decades later, she is still a respected leader in France's information industry.[1]
Spirit[]
Her Guardian Ghost is Tara-san (タラさん Tara-san, English: "Mr. Tarantula"),[4] a spider spirit. For a spiritual medium, she uses her cane which is topped with the head of a garou (French for "werewolf").[1]

Past[]
Lil Red was born on January 12, 1912[2] in France. During World War II, she acted as a spy under the codename "Little Red Riding Hood" and provided information to the French Resistance and its leaders, which contributed to the liberation of France. During the war, she also attended a leadership summit in Morocco, where she met and befriended fellow witches Marlin and Samansa.[1]
Shaman Fight[]
Lil Red decided to participate in the Shaman Fight so that she could regain her youth and find love. She teamed up with her old friends, who also wanted be young again,[1] and formed Team "Magical Princess". However, in their first match of the tournament, all three were killed by the younger witches of Team "Hana-Gumi". Kanna Bismarch's Ashcroft stabbed his lance through Lil Red's torso and then brutalized her corpse.[5]
During the Five Elemental Warriors' fight against the new Shaman King, Hao, the witches boarded the train of souls and rode it up to the highest commune. After Hao dispelled his Over Soul and the black hole, the witches pleaded for him to resurrect them in younger bodies; however, he glared at them and stated that he had no intention to resurrect anyone.[6]
Ultimately, Hao was convinced to resurrect those killed during the Shaman Fight, but it is unknown if Lil Red, Marlin, and Samansa were among those revived.
Anime/Manga Difference[]
Lil Red does not appear in the 2001 anime series, and she briefly appears in the 2021 anime series after her death.
Trivia[]
- Her name and appearance are based on the folktale character, Little Red Riding Hood.
- Lil Red is the oldest member of her team.
- Like the rest of her team, she is a descendant of one of the witches who followed Hao during the previous Shaman Fight.[7]
