History[]

Past[]

Marlin was born on July 16, 1918[1] in England. During World War II, she served the Prime Minister and used flies to collect information that was difficult to obtain even for other intelligence agencies. She saved her country several times this way.[3] During the war, she attended a leadership summit in Morocco, where she met and befriended fellow witches Samansa and Lil Red.[4]

Despite her contributions to the country and magic, she was eventually cast out and struggled to make a living as a fortune teller. By comparing the teachings handed down orally by her ancestors with the documents preserved in the British Museum, Marlin learned of the existence of the Shaman Fight and, seeing it as an opportunity for a new life, dusted off her techniques.[3]

Shaman Fight[]

Marlin teamed up with her old friends, who also wanted be young again,[4] and formed Team "Magical Princess". However, in their first match of the tournament, all three were killed by the younger witches of Team "Hana-Gumi". Marion Phauna's Chuck shot Marlin through the forehead when the old witch tried to flee the ring.[5]

During the Five Elemental Warriors' fight against the new Shaman King, Hao, the witches boarded the train of souls and rode it up to the highest commune. After Hao dispelled his Over Soul and the black hole, the witches pleaded for him to resurrect them in younger bodies; however, he glared at them and stated that he had no intention to resurrect anyone.[6]

Ultimately, Hao was convinced to resurrect those killed during the Shaman Fight, but it is unknown if Marlin, Samansa, and Lil Red were among those revived.

Anime/Manga Difference[]

Marlin does not appear in the 2001 anime series, and only her death is adapted in the 2021 anime series.
