Michael (ミカエル Mikaeru) is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. He is an angel and a piece of him was used to create the Archangel that served as Marco Lasso's Guardian Ghost.[1]
About[]
As described in the Book of Revelation, Michael was a valorous archangel who led an army of angels.[2] He carries a sword and a set of scales.[3] According to legend, he once descended to an island in France, so a Christian monastery was built there and the island became known as Mont-Saint-Michel.[4]
Like the other Archangels, Michael possesses the ability to shatter other spirits with his attacks, as seen when Michael impales Boris Tepes Dracula and makes him disappear.[1]
Mobile Angel[]
Luchist Lasso ventured into the Big Heaven,[5] took a piece of Michael, and placed it in a red '92 Ferrari Testarossa that was important to Marco Lasso.[6] This Testarossa had been commissioned by a wealthy Monacan and was most likely the last of its kind in the world.[7] While not a real angel, its reiryoku is almost at Kami Class.[2]
Marco's main medium for his Over Souls are 9mm bullets for a modified Beretta 93R,[8] known as Sword No-001 "Marco Full Auto 9" (マルコフルオート
Over Souls and Attacks[]
O.S. Michael[]
- O.S. "Michael" (O.S. ミカエル Mikaeru)
- Shaman: Marco Lasso
- O.S. Type: Spirit Type
- Spirit Ally: Michael
- Medium used: A special 9mm bullet for a modified Beretta 93R
Description: In its archangel form, it has a slim body wielding a sword and carrying a large shield on its left shoulder with a weight scale and a pentagram of five stars imprinted on it. It is first seen impaling Boris Tepes Dracula with its sword and later uses its powers to shatter his body and soul completely.[1] It is able to easily break Harusame, when Asakura Yoh attacks Marco to protect Bill Burton.[10] If the shamans' minds focus more on the devices than their religious pieties in angels when summoning the spirits, the colorations of the mechanical archangels may alter.[6]
- Attacks
- Archangels Fire (アークエンジェルズ
FIRE Ākuenjeruzu Faia, 4Kids: "Ray of Light"): This attack involves Marco and the other X-Laws lining up and taking aim with their weapons and then simultaneously launching all of their Archangels at the same target. By using all seven Archangels, this attack becomes strong enough to cripple and even send almost any person into a near-death state. This attack seems to use a minimal amount of Furyoku and it happens so fast that barely anyone sees it before it is over.[8]
- Death Penalty (
死刑 Desu Penaruti): Marco fires Michael from his gun, and the archangel swings its sword at the target.[11]
O.S. Ferrari Testarossa '92 Speciale[]
- O.S. "Ferrari Testarossa '92 Speciale" (O.S. フェッラリテスタロッサ'92ペチアール Ferrari Tesutarossa '92 Supechiāru)[12]
- Shaman: Marco Lasso
- Spirit Ally: Michael
- Medium used: A special 9mm bullet for a modified Beretta 93R
Description: Aside from its angelic powers, it can also be turned into an Over Soul shaped as a white version of its original supercar.[7] The Over Soul can be driven like a normal car and reach speeds of 300 km/h.[12][13]
O.S. Fake Marco[]
- O.S. "Fake Marco" (O.S. ニセマルコ Nise Maruko)
- Shaman: Marco Lasso
- O.S. Type: Spirit Type
- Spirit Ally: Michael
- Medium used: Marco's Glasses
Description: Marco uses his own glasses as a medium to materialize Michael, creating an exact replica of Marco himself. Because Over Souls cannot produce shadows, an opponent could deduce who is the real Marco.[14]
New Trance and Attacks[]
- Michamarco (ミカマルコ Mikamaruko)
This fusion of Marco and Michael appears as a winged figure wielding the archangel's sword and shield, as well as bearing his halo. The figure also wears epaulettes, a skirt, and ballet shoes. His face is covered by a circular plate etched with Michael's sigil.[15]
