One day while working as a maid at Oume Kaizou's mansion, Misaki answers the door and finds Alumi Numbirch there. Misaki goes to ask Kaizou if he will meet with the girl, but Alumi drives her motorcycle in anyways. He kicks Alumi out of his house after she angers him, asking about the safe and Sakurai.[2] That evening, Misaki visits her grandmother who is living in Kakehashi, a senior care home in Nagano. Misaki tells Chiharu about Alumi's strange visit, and the mention of "Sakurai's grudge" piques Chiharu's interest.[4]

The next day, after Inspector Hebishima Yumeji's visit, Misaki is dusting the new battleship Yamato model atop the safe and accidentally breaks part of it. Alerted to her presence, Kaizou worries that she overheard his wish to kill Yumeji, but she is unaware of what he said. As he leaves the room, he tells her to throw away the model.[3]

Misaki is with her grandmother when she receives a call from Kaizou, who has woken up in the hospital and is desperate to get back to his mansion. Despite her granddaughter's protests, Chiharu decides to change clothes and accompany Misaki. As they drive, Misaki wonders about her grandmother's changed demeanor.[5]

When they arrive at the mansion, Misaki is frightened by the sight of Officer Morimura Hitoshi and his missing eye, and screams for her grandmother. Kaizou is initially confused to learn that Misaki is related to Chiharu. He then panics when Chiharu recognizes Sakutaro's pistol in the safe. Kamogawa Yohsuke's intervention, however, prevents Kaizou from divulging more information.[6] Misaki watches in shock as an old plane appears to be fighting Kaizou, who is floating over the lake. Hitoshi wakes up and tells Misaki to run away.[7] Shortly after, Alumi flies down, much to Misaki's shock, and tries to usher Misaki and the others away from the battle. After defeating Kaizou, Hana catches the old man and tells Misaki to call an ambulance for him.

When Sakutaro reunites with Chiharu, who could see his ghost because she was close to death, Misaki is curious to whom her grandmother is talking. Chiharu introduces him to Misaki, their granddaughter, and then drops dead, which leaves Misaki stunned.[1]

Misaki visits Kaizou in the hospital and helps care for him.[8]
