Kidomura Osamu (鬼道村 修 Kidomura Osamu),[1] or simply Ozam (オーザム Ōzamu),[2] is a fictional character in the Shaman King manga and anime series. As a member of Gandhara, he participates in the Shaman Fight as a part of Team "Deva".[2]
Appearance[]
He is an extremely tall man, towering over most other characters in the series and is also rather muscular. He wears nothing but a tattered orange cloth around his legs, black boots, and wristbands. He has long smooth black hair and covers his face with a red and grey mask.
Personality[]
Abilities and Powers[]
Like the rest of Gandhara, Ozam has undergone training in Hell to strengthen his soul and further increase his furyoku, enabling him to handle two Kami-class spirits.[3] The Buddhistic spirits of Gandhara also have furyoku-nullification abilities, enabling the hosting shamans to win battles with minimal violence.[4]
Spirit[]
Ozam's Guardian Ghosts are the Nio (ニオウ Niō), a pair of Kami-class Buddhistic spirits, and uses a pair of vajras as his mediums.[2]
History[]
Past[]
Osamu was born on November 3, 1975 in Chiba, Japan.[2] He became a popular masked wrestler, until he was forced to use an unfamiliar aerial technique and fell out of the ring, grievously injuring himself. No longer able to wrestle, he was fired and fell into despair. While traveling through India on a journey of self reflection, he learned of Gandhara and met Sati Saigan. Having fallen in love with her personality, he offered to become her apprentice and volunteered to be the security guard and physical education teacher at her school, both of which she accepted. Through training, he became aware of the shamanic abilities that had awakened from his accident. He also took on the Nio as his Guardian Ghosts. Through Sati's efforts, his debilitating injuries have healed, so he occasionally returned to Japan to wrestle and promote the miracles of Gandhara.[1]
Coming to Tokyo[]
Ozam and the other qualifying competitors attended the opening ceremony at Mimata Hall.[5]
A month later, Ozam and the other competitors gathered at Yokocha Base and were flown to America in the Patch Jumbo. The shamans were tasked with locating and reaching the Patch Village within three months. While still tens of thousands of feet in the air, the jumbo jet was revealed to be an Over Soul shortly before it was dematerialized, dropping all of its passengers. Gandhara rode on the group's elephant and descended safely to the ground.[6]
The Gandhara members successfully reached the village, and Ozam joined Team "Deva" for the tournament, with Samy and Mamy.[2]
Shaman Fights Second Round[]
Team "Deva" easily defeated Team "Cowboys" in the first round of matches[7] and Team "Nazca" in the second.[8]
Ozam and the rest of Gandhara watched as Team "Myooh" faced off against Team "The Ren".[9]
In preparation for the final battle, most of the Gandhara members met up with Yoh, and Sati sent him to Hell in order for him to train and become one of the Five Elemental Warriors.[10] After Sati explained to Team "Funbari Onsen" about Gandhara's mission, Namari confronted them about their plan to steal the Five Grand Elemental Spirits from the Patch Tribe, and then informed them that Team "X-II" had been killed so Team "Nyorai" would face Team "Kabbalahers" next.[11]
As Namari left, Team "Tsuki-Gumi" arrived and tried to bait Ryu into a fight. When Sati was distracted stopping Ryu, Hang Zang-Ching stabbed her in the back, killing her.[12] Team "Tsuki-Gumi" then managed to kill the rest of the Gandhara members there. Johann Faust VIII revived Yoh, who quickly defeated Team "Tsuki-Gumi" by himself. After Johann revived Sati,[13] she revived Iron Maiden Jeanne and together, the two women revived everyone else.[14]
After Lyserg Diethel's revival, Teams "Nyorai", "Deva", and "Kabbalhers" withdrew from the tournament, allowing Team "X-I" to continue on and bringing an end to the match between Teams "Funbari Onsen" and "The Ren".[15]
Invading the Plants[]
After the four Grand Elemental Spirits had been retrieved from Hell, the Gandhara members boarded the Sphinx so they could deliver the spirits to Mū. However, before they reached the underwater continent, Asakura Hao awoke as the Shaman King and destroyed the Sphinx and everyone inside it.[16]
The Gandhara members then boarded the train of souls in the Great Spirit and rode it the highest commune in support of the Five Elemental Warriors' fight against Hao. After Hao was placated,[17] he revived the fallen shamans.[18]
Anime/Manga Difference[]
Like many of the Gandhara members, Ozam does not appear in the 2001 anime series.
