Tamao TamamuraTamao Tamamura (玉村 たまお Tamamura Tamao, known in the English anime as "Tamara" or "Tammy"), is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Shaman King.
Appearance
Tamao has short pink hair and constantly wears a simple white shirt and black pants. She always carries her sketch book wherein her ouija is drawn. Tied around her is her planchette; the medium she uses in making her oversoul.
When working at the Asakura Family in, in Izumo, she wears a screaming pink kimono, with a white shirt beneath and a purple sash around her waist tied with a green string.
She was seen in the final chapters of the manga wearing a wearing a rather revealing tank top and very short shorts.
Personality
Tamao is a shy girl who has a huge crush on Asakura Yoh, even though she knows that Yoh loves Anna Kyōyama, his fiancée. She once even stated that her feelings for him were not less stronger. Initially, she is so shy that she uses her sketchbook and points to pictures in order to tell people what she wants to say. However, in her first appearance in the manga, she predicted that two people will bring catastrophe to Yoh. Even though, Yohmei did not took her prediction seriously, she decided to do something- nearly killing Manta if Anna had not intervened. it turned out that Ponchi and Conchi had messed with her predictions because they want some action. During the Shaman Fights she becomes a strong person and even refere to Anna's teaching about women, while standing up against a stronger foe.
Abilities and Powers
Tamao's specialty is her use of a kokkuri board, which is similar to a Ouija board, in order to perform divinations. She is also an ascetic, like Mikihisa.
Spirits
- See More: Ponchi and Conchi
Her spirits are Conchi, a kitsune, and Ponchi, a tanuki, in the same way Mikihisa has a kitsune and a tanuki. However, even though they are Seirei-types they have still not completly giving up on there ego and can therefor not completly evolve. Both of them act like crappy old geezers.
History
Past
Tamao is an 11 years old at the start of the series. Her birthday is on June 17th, 1988 and her blood type is A. Orphaned at a young age, she was found and brought to the Asakura family by Yoh's father, Asakura Mikihisa. He intended her to train under Asakura Yohmei to learn divination.

Anime/Manga Difference
In the anime and manga her first appearance are the same, however the result of her divination are different in the versions. In both versions she see that a short and a tall person will come and hurt Yoh, however it is here the difference come in. In the manga her spirit guardians interfered with her predictions, while in the anime she mistook Ryu and Manta for the persons even though it was someone else. Also in the anime she is not so shy that she uses her sketchbook and points to pictures in order to tell people what she wants to say, and does instead talk clearly, even though she stutters a lot.
And another missing part in her character is that in the manga, she (together with Jun) fought the Hanagumi in order to save Redseb and Seyram. Her oversoul was more emphasized unlike in the anime. Also, her other oversoul, Angel-san, was shown in the manga and not in the anime.
Trivia
- As said by Anna, if she was not there it would be most likely that Tamao would become the bride of Asakura Yoh
