Past[]
After the final battle of the Shaman Fight in AD 2000, Marco Lasso learned about the Flower of Maize from Luchist Lasso, so when the new Shaman King Asakura Hao was resurrecting the dead, Marco requested that he be made an angel. When Hao explains the impossibility of such a request, Marco instead requests to be sent to Hell in order to slay enough devils to prove himself to the angels. Marco eventually succeeds and is reborn as an angel.[2]
Marcos[]
Fourteen years later, as the X-Laws reunited at Mont-Saint-Michel and were confronted by Spimea Lasso, Marco awakened and emerged from his golden Iron Maiden and then used his angelic power to drive off Spimea.[3] The X-Laws visited Jeanne's grave at the Tao Family Estate, and Marco learned about what had transpired while he was absent, including Jeanne's wedding and marriage to Tao Ren. The X-Laws then split apart so they could all settle their affairs before the Flower of Maize.[4]
When the Dong siblings tracked Marco down to the island mansion, Lyserg Diethel carried Marco and Hans Reiheit away while Luchist remained behind to create an illusion of Marco, tricking the Four Holy Beasts. Luchist then detonated a bomb in the mansion, killing himself and almost killing the intruders.[5]
Once the X-Laws reunited at a remote cottage in the Swiss Alps, Hans admitted that they had three options: die and train in Hell, continue to train on Earth, or give up. With the threat of Daremoine still looming, the X-Laws split into two groups, with one withdrawing from the tournament. The other group chose to train in Hell and form Team Marcos.[1]
Flowers[]
On the night of Team YVS' meeting in Kyoto Tower, Team Marcos traveled to Kyoto, Japan, and Marco demanded that the Knights Templar allow Asakura Hana to climb the tower. Marco also desired to meet with Kamogawa Yohsuke before the tournament.[6] They entered the underground tunnels and put a stop to Peyote Diaz and Yun Namukada's fight. They were then confronted by the Dong siblings.[7] While Marco and Dehon fought, Hans and Teruko Reiheit pursued the other Dong siblings and stopped them from reaching Chizubo.[8]
